Julia Suzuki is a businesswoman, former model[4] and author of The Land of Dragor series of children's books.
Julia Suzuki grew up in Fazeley, Staffordshire[9] on an estate adjacent to Drayton Manor Theme Park.[4] While at secondary school (Rawlett Community Sports College)[9] she faced challenges from other pupils and shyness.[2] Later, Julia studied English as an A-Level and Business Studies with Creative Writing at the University of Derby.[1][4] She also studied ballet at the Royal Academy of Dance and Speech and Drama.[2][3]
As an adult, Suzuki worked with a Disney licensing company and former tennis ace David Lloyd[5] before setting up her own company. She owns shares in four David Lloyd businesses and a share in the brand itself.[4]
Julia's first book was launched in April 2011 at the London Book Fair.[5][10] Yoshiko and the Gift of Charms is a children's novel aimed at 8-12 year olds and centres on the story of Yoshiko, a young, chameleon-like dragon. Suzuki has stated that the series grows with three children from Stratford-Upon-Avon who come to be heroes in the second book of the Dragor series,[11] which she is currently writing.[12] She also revealed in an interview that there will be seven books in the series, including a prequel.[4]
Julia was also the first author to be featured on Living Social after appearing on the site on December 15th. [13].
Julia is currently running a national dance competition to run alongside the book.[11] The competition is judged by herself, choreographer Juliet Short and songwriter Chris Onslow.[14]
